Year 2012

This a new year and Grant and I have some goals to accomplish. I can't speak for Grant, but I have never been so focused on my climbing before.

Being that a year ago I had just moved to Bend from Tacoma and had dabbled in climbing previously, a lot has happened in the past year. Some things include, in order: Meeting Grant (my support, motivation, and inspiration) in May, climbing my first 5.11 (after about 4 months of projecting), climbing my first 5.12 a month later, meeting new people, and finding a new "try hard" ideal in climbing.

While joking around with my friend Daniel about the new year, I think I found some new goals.

Vanessa's Goals:
12 5.12's in 2012
Ticklist (obviously these are just at Smith, but hopefully some others will happen in other areas)
I was able to get my first 12 of the year a few days ago, happens to be a route I was working on for a month and a half.

-Watt's Tots 12b,
-Latin Lover 12a,
-Doritos 12c,
-Full Heinous 12c,
-Cool Ranch 12a,
-Vision 12b,
-Karate Wall 12c,
-Take a Powder 12a,
-Crack Babies 12b,
-Full Magic Light 12a,
-Made in the Shade 12c
I hope to climb into the 13 range this year as well

Grant's goals:
Scarface
Mr. Yuk
Vicious Fish
To Bolt

While driving to Vegas from Boise with Grant, we stopped at a Walgreens and I decided to buy a disposable camera for the first time in many years. Grant was reluctant because we have a digital but I convinced him of how the suspense and unknowing of how the pictures would turn out.

Today I developed and picked them up. The emotion was exciting and here are most of said pictures...

  1. Glad to see Full Heinous is on your list! It is such a great climb. I have some similar projects for my getting back in shape post-pregnancy goals. It would be super fun to work on them together.
